In 2011, Harvard Graduate School of Design brought together three celebrated conceptual artists to present a high-profile exhibition of their work within this unique institution. In order to allow a wider audience to experience the project, as well as documenting its achievement, Harvard and Project Projects commissioned TWGF to make three short films that captured the atmosphere of the installation. Shot by cinematographer Chris Dapkins.
Rob Meyer’s 2008 short film, Aquarium, was his graduate thesis project at NYU’s film school. It played at over 60 film festivals and won over 20 awards including an Honorable Mention at Sundance. It was shot on location in Newton, Massachusetts by Rob Hauer, one of this year’s Filmmaker Magazine “25 filmmakers to watch” and it is the basis of Rob’s first feature, A Birder’s Guide to Everything, which he co-wrote with Luke Matheny.
In 2015, There We Go Films partnered with Civic and The Balvenie to produce the original series Raw Craft with Anthony Bourdain, a celebration of some of America’s most talented and dedicated craftspeople. From hand-tailored suits to cast iron skillets, Raw Craft documents the lives and works of the committed individuals at the forefront of the American craft movement. The success of the series, with over 4 million organic views and 30,000 new subscribers (not to mention a significant increase in demand) has resulted in the green lighting of seasons two and three. In this episode, Bourdain visits the legendary bladesmith Bob Kramer, who demonstrates how he makes hand-forged knives using meteorite.
In this episode of Raw Craft, Bourdain visits Arion Press, a publisher like no other. Each of its staff members — from the typecasters, to the proofreaders, to the printers and the bookbinders — work meticulously to create books that are truly works of art, and possess something Bourdain can only describe as magic.
In 2016, TWGF helped BrainPop relaunch their Web site with a film that re-introduced the beloved animation company in a new light. No longer just a place to find fun educational videos, BrainPop now offers lesson plans, games, analytic tools and more, placing it shoulder to shoulder with the other major digital curriculum platforms.
Part of the celebrated documentary “The Intelligent Hand” and commissioned by The Balvenie, Rick Kelly Guitars is an intimate look at a man who makes guitars out of reclaimed lumber from famous New York City buildings and features an appearance by Jim Jarmusch.
An introductory video to the interactive curriculum Amplify, a new digital curriculum company built from the ground up for a generation born in the digital age.
In the fall of 2010, Momentum Worldwide commissioned TWGF to create a series of short films for Hudson Whiskey. The result of this collaboration is an overview film (featured here), as well as one short for each of their five products: Single Malt, Corn Whiskey, Baby Bourbon, Manhattan Rye, and 4-Grain. A small but dedicated film crew shot at Hudson’s tiny distillery in Gardiner, NY. We set out to capture the passion of these craftsmen, the hand-made nature of the endeavor, and the philosophy, texture, and even the smell of their beloved whiskey.
Working again with Momentum Worldwide, TWGF made a series of films for Balvenie Whiskey, a single malt scotch. In 2011, Balvenie’s two US ambassadors, Andrew Weir and Nicholas Pallocchi, made an epic road trip across the United States in a handmade Morgan, visiting craftsmen who still use traditional artisanal methods. While the Scots made stops all over the country, TWGF focused on their trips to New Orleans, San Francisco, and New York. On the strength of these films, Balvenie commissioned an additional film that celebrated their own traditional processed at their distillery in Dufftown, Scotland.
Having worked with Lia Sophia for several years, TWGF produced their three major brand videos in 2012. Lia Sophia is a unique direct-sales company that offers affordable, fashion-forward jewelry. Instead of traditional advertising, they rely on word of mouth, social networking, and conferences to energize their enormous team of Advisors. “Welcome to More” serves as a great introduction to the philosophy and opportunities that this family-run business provides.
There We Go Films has to date made 12 short films for Everything But Water, a resort-wear company. Under new branding spearheaded by Bob Weinstein of Concrete Brands, the company has transformed itself. These beautiful high-end videos showcase the swimwear on location in Miami, Bermuda, and the Bahamas, share the excitement of a fun getaway, capture trends such as vintage or stripes, and give viewers a look behind-the-scenes of the photo shoots.
In the spring of 2010, Focus Features hired TWGF to shoot the behind-the-scenes and the electronic press kit (EPK) for the feature film Jane Eyre, directed by Cary Fukunaga. Shot on location in Derbyshire, England, TWGF covered all elements of filmmaking along with in-depth interviews with its key crew members and actors Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender, Judy Dench and Jamie Bell. This is one of the many featurettes created from the footage.
